Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
How people can talk about expectations and predictions for what next season will look like is beyond me. I’ve learned my lesson from this season. Ahh, but that's the beauty of being a fan! I don't live or die on the basis of wins, losses, or in-between, and therefore I don't have any real "expectat...

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Some thoughts about next year's team, and a related recruiting thought or question. 1. Starting 5 will include the long-discussed return to "2 bigs". Kellan, Carter, and HJ at the guards. Luka and Sam at the bigs. Plenty of reserve legs for the guards (Grant, Mike, David C., Emory ... with Luke as a...

Re: Class of 2020 Recruits
1. Apparently, Sallie is a PRBLM child . Kinda like how the Bad News Bears are bad news for opposing teams. Hadn't checked this in a while. Mallorie Haines is now officially a PRBLM child as well. How accurate would it be to compare this list to a Top 100 ranking of 2021 players? Obviously, seems l...

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
I'm still not sure I've heard an answer to the real question, though. In the Michael Bree example cited, he played 4 consecutive seasons, so there was no question about eligibility. If Bree had been injured at some point, and had to sit out a year, would he have been eligible for a full redshirt ye...

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Thanks for the replies. So, just to clarify, what I'm really asking is whether he would be eligible to play for the entire school year of 2024/2025, if that became necessary and desirable. In the UConn example cited above, he was receiving "institutional aid", and would be a redshirt freshman the fo...

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
I'm still curious as to how the NCAA handles a case like this. Earlier comments suggested he would not be treated as a "scholarship athlete" during the spring semester, but I presume he will in fact be "on scholarship" this spring. Main reason for the question is wondering whether his 5-year window ...

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Boy, did I love Jake Cohen's game, especially his ability to hit the trailing 3. I'm sure we've all discussed this before, but how well do you all think Jake would have shown in the A10 as opposed to SoCon? I have to believe his game would have translated very well, just as I think De'Mon Brooks wou...

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Eligibility Questions ... a) does Sam need to be declared a red shirt for this spring? b) does Sam's "5 years to complete 4 seasons of play" mean that his 5-year window of eligibility would run out at the conclusion of the Fall 2024 semester? If the answer to b) is "yes", that would mean that he eff...

Re: Recruiting / Kool Aid
Great points, and I definitely hadn't thought about the more shallow pool of talented players on the women's side. Of course, that will continue to improve, but for now, definitely an impact. So that all makes good sense. In terms of being easier, I am specifically referring to Davidson, not any gen...

Re: Recruiting / Kool Aid
Recent and current program results certainly pass the eye-test, and it seems indisputable that Coach is doing great work. Still, I'm wondering what the in-the-knows believe about our player commitments that we already know about for "future" years (i.e., HS Classes of 20 and 21). As an admittedly il...

Re: Recruiting / Kool Aid
As an admittedly casual follower of such things, it seems like there is an incredible buzz around the recent recruiting successes on the WBB side of things, especially the early signings for the upcoming couple of classes. Could someone who is closer to the program, in terms of having a good sense f...

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
With the signings of Huffman and Lanier, we would seem to have only one open scholarship remaining for that incoming class. From the purely outside looking in, we would seem to be in hot pursuit of both Justice Ajogbor and Matt Zona (and, of course, whoever we do not know about). If both of those te...

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Yes, but the distinction appears to be that Davidson's multiple offers are "equal offers", with the first one to accept being given the scholarship. The major-major comparison was of "unequal offers", whereby not every offer-holder actually had the ability to accept a scholarship by simply saying "y...

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Thanks for the insight, and especially that recruiting diary, very interesting stuff. In reading that, it really hit at the essence of my curiousness with how recruiting "offers" work. Sounds like a Davidson offer is a firm offer. How do the major-major schools finagle "qualified offers"? I mean, yo...
