Re: Clunie Email re NIL

Market value is what people are willing to pay. If our players can find people willing to pay them more than $70k to play ball, then their market value is more than $70k. Capping their 'wages' at the cost of attendance is anti-capitalist. If we don't like the way capitalism allows some people to be...

Re: Clunie Email re NIL

Most lawyers are broke. The ones you know are making good money. NIL should have nothing to do with the market value of the player to the school. Does anybody really think that any one of our players generates over $70,000 in additional ticket sales? NIL, if an honest endeavor, would base amounts on...

If cheering for young athletes who are finally getting compensated at fair market rates for their work thrills you, write that check (if your finances allow it).
How many Davidson basketball scholarship players have a fair market value significantly over the $70,000+ base pay?

Re: Clunie Email re NIL

I was told that one of our returning players was offered $300,000 to transfer.

The Tuesday night video could be informative. I don't know whether there will be a chance for Q&A.

Re: Post Season Banquet

I thought that since we are using Bobby's name, image, and likeness, maybe we should pay him for it. But then I realized that the photograpic, printing, and legal fees would eat up most of the money.

Re: Post Season Banquet

It was great to see everybody tonight. I sat next to Mike Spann, and our conversation had as much to do with basketball in our era as with the season just past. I really enjoyed the stories. I spoke with Connor Cochera briefly, and he seems as excited about coming back for another year as we are to ...

And the winner is … http://www.stalbanssq.org/images/IMG_5092.jpg The first winner (we think) wanted to pose with the recent winner. Jack is proud of having won this honor, and told me he had kept checking the board back then to see whether he was winning. http://www.stalbanssq.org/images/IMG_5090.j...

Re: Post Season Banquet

It occurs to me that one of the true losses in this new world of college athletics is the loss of community and long-term friendships and relationships that are formed along the way in the trenches and in the gyms. I recently wished Happy Birthday on Facebook to Jón Axel’s dad. I don’t imagine that...

I don't think you or anyone else taking this position is exhibiting hostility towards Zach. But, perhaps as these comments are under a post welcoming him to the community, it is understandable that folks might see it that way.
