They've had 6 Chancellors in 9 years. The previous Chancellor, Nancy Cable, was the Director of Admissions at Davidson in the 1990s.
The article quotes the campus's President of Students for a Democratic Society. That's a blast from the past.
The school should try to get a waiver from the Board of Governors to accept and enroll more out of state students. If high school grads from NC don't want to go there, grads from other states might. *They enroll 12% of their students from out of state. They could probably bump that to 18% without the Board of Governors penalizing them.
They should get the contact information for students who are rejected or put on waiting list by UNCW and ASU. Some might want to go to UNCA. Tourists from everywhere want to go there.
*Former Davidson football coach and interim AD Ed Farrell was UNCA's AD from 1985 to 1990. He left there to be the AD at UT-Chattanooga. I knew he was the AD at UT-C, but did not know he had been at UNCA.

Re: UNCA is in trouble
The BOG approved raising the out of state cap for UNCA to 25 percent in Jan 2023. (Resolution here: https://www.northcarolina.edu/apps/poli ... php?id=789 ... and related: UNCW penalized for exceeding cap too many times: https://www.wunc.org/education/2023-11- ... llment-cap)citycat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 12:54 pmThe school should try to get a waiver from the Board of Governors to accept and enroll more out of state students. Re: UNCA is in trouble
The Board of Governors should take the money they collect from UNCW and give it to UNCA.
Raise WCU's tuition so it is in line with the other UNC system schools.

Re: UNCA is in trouble
UNCA's men's team overcame the adversity on campus and defeated High Point last night.
The Big South Tournament is in High Point this year.

But got their butt kicked by Longwood in the finals.
"He is a 6-foot-3, sweet smiling, fun loving boogeyman who will decimate entire teams, then sign autographs and take pictures with his fallen foes' children.
He is a question with no answers."

They had the match up they wanted in the final and were blown out by Longwood.
That happened to Davidson in 1996, 2005, 2009, and 2014, but not in the final those last 3 times.
The next step for UNCA is to avoid losing Mike Morrell to WCU.
