As well as they're doing right now, I wonder if Roy reaches the point at which he looks down the bench at those two guys in street clothes and envisions a pair of different McDonald's All Americans in their places.

They're teetering on the edge of the dividing line between dressing out and renting the cannabis cabin.

As was posted earlier, some law enforcement personnel in Orange County, NC have less than zealous attitudes about marijuana laws.

Dudley High School's alumni include basketball star Lou Hudson, football star Charlie Sanders, basketball star Freddie "Curly" Neal, hoopster Brendan Haywood, and speed skater Joey Cheek.

Davidson played an exhibition at Dudley before the '78-'79 or '79-'80 season. In the pre-game warmups, Jamie Hall amazed the crowd by tossing a ball high off the back wall, let it bounce off the floor, and then thrust it violently downward through the hoop in a way that excited the crowd.

He performed a similar feat during a game at Wake, too.

That sounds right. bagel was living in the stables at Graylen (sp?). We met him there before or after the game. Some of us came from Chapel Hill and others from Davidson.

Someone missed a shot. Jamie cradled the rebound and slammed it home. The crowd erupted, yelling it was goaltending.

As Jamie crossed midcourt, backing up on defense, the crowd realized what a great play it was and started cheering.

Jamie could jump like Jordan, and was 4-5 inches taller.

He makes a reasonable argument. Doesn't necessarily mean he's right, and of course, ultimately the "right way" simply is a function of defining your goals and meeting them. As for his remark about reaching the Sweet Sixteen or Elite Eight, "even if it's only every 5 years or so" (paraphrase), just about everybody dreams of that kind of success. If we could be guaranteed that level of success every 5 years, I think we'd all jump on to that train.

The main fallacy seems to be an assumption that if they weren't supporting football scholarships, then those funds could be diverted to other sports, primarily basketball. Funds aren't always so fungible, especially if you have some big football-oriented donors.

And still, pouring more money into something doesn't necessarily produce proportional results.

What level of funding and facilities upgrade would raise Wofford basketball to the level that would make the kind of difference he suggests, I don't know. I suspect it would be much more, at least in the short run, than what they are spending on the football program.
