Davidson had a philosophy professor during my time there whose name now escapes me through the fog of age and dead brain cells.

But he assigned BladeRunner a as a philosophy topic. Discussing what it means to be human, based on reading we had done throughout the semester, we were to analyze whether or not a replicant was human and should have human rights.

It was interesting.

I honestly think we will all be wrestling with the issue before too long. BTW for the non SF buffs, Blade Runner is the movie version of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

I think the Supreme Court has already decided this. If they have enough money to buy a politician, then they are persons with First Amendment rights.

I assume you are referring to this:

It is a very interesting case, take a look at it and we can discuss it via PM if you like.

I have an idea. Don't count corporations as persons for sake of the First Amendment, but eliminate corporate taxation, and don't allow them to be sued as persons.

Do you mean, allow corporations to be sued, but not as persons, or do not allow corporations to be sued?

If I sue a corporation in small claims court, I'll expect it to show up in person rather than sending a representative. People have to represent themselves usually.

I'm imagining Ronald McDonald in court right now.

I saw a bumper sticker:

"I'll believe a corporation is a person
When Texas executes one."

The SCOTUS Citizens decision included unions too ... no outrage about that?

Wisconsin has already executed those.

I know this is meant to be humorous, but I expect more than a typical libtard response from Steve Lee. Selective outrage?
