He'll absorb lots of our system this spring and be ready to play next season.

Looks like the most ready to play big since Cohen and more able to play with the ball in his hands

Eligibility Questions ...
a) does Sam need to be declared a red shirt for this spring?
b) does Sam's "5 years to complete 4 seasons of play" mean that his 5-year window of eligibility would run out at the conclusion of the Fall 2024 semester?
If the answer to b) is "yes", that would mean that he effectively has 4 seasonal years to play his 4 eligible seasons (20/21, 21/22, 22/23, 23/24), since his 5th year effectively would be Spring 2020/Fall 2024. Just curious how this works.

I’m probably wrong but I’m thinking that Sam is not considered a scholarship athlete until fall of 2020. Meaning he is enrolling in January as a “regular student.”

Lots of compliments, but if you watch the first video, you see a lot of guards blowing right by him. I'm sure he will make a big contribution, but I would refrain from excessive early expectations (e.g. "most ready to play big since Cohen . . .").

Boy, did I love Jake Cohen's game, especially his ability to hit the trailing 3. I'm sure we've all discussed this before, but how well do you all think Jake would have shown in the A10 as opposed to SoCon? I have to believe his game would have translated very well, just as I think De'Mon Brooks would have been an A10 stud.

A certain Austrian sophomore might question this statement.dfleming@jpfirm.com wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 11:26 amLooks like the most ready to play big since Cohen and more able to play with the ball in his hands

I could tell right away at the ‘09 Red-Black scrimmage that Cohen was going to help us. Same goes for JRich in 2004.GoalCat wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 1:07 pmBoy, did I love Jake Cohen's game, especially his ability to hit the trailing 3. No offense whatsoever to Kishawn or MJ, but having a real big in the 4 spot is going to be, for lack of a better word, big for us.

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Probably some thought/hope to the real big 4 spot ultimately being filled by DK so the rotation could include three players over 6'9" though the 4 out 1 in trend is more likely to result in LB, LF, MJ, CC, and SM being on the floor at the same time. In terms of being ready to play, there's little doubt that in terms of defense, rebounding and pure post play both LB and JC were more ready and/or physically built to contribute early but in terms of ball skills/shooting, the video seems to show a slightly more advanced player. JC took 90 3s his fr yr and shot 31% (LB only took 14) and both shot 70% from the line their fr yr. Aside from the admitted stupidity of predicting anything this far out given the number of variables, those numbers/percentages look reachable for that stroke

Seems like we’re closer to having a 5 guard lineup than a 3 guard lineup.

Is this, umm, still the case?CatsUpNorth wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 4:19 pmMore video of Sam: https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/sport/b ... university
Mentions that he plans to come to school next semester, but won't play until next season

I would think so, as Sam only turns 18 this month.dorp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 1:51 pmIs this, umm, still the case?CatsUpNorth wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 4:19 pmMore video of Sam: https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/sport/b ... university
