More than once upon a time, Davidson has had a Red and Black scrimmage followed by a mock press conference. There are a bunch of fans and often one or two tall young men in the crowd who are visiting. During the Q&A, someone (a plant?) asks the freshmen why they chose Davidson. We hear articulate answers that are both logical and emotional. Sometimes we get a bit misty-eyed for a variety of reasons, including some resonance with our own past, even if not having been varsity athletes. Perhaps people other than nostalgic alumni find those responses compelling.

Sometimes on the following Monday or so we see the name of one or more young men associated with the word “committed.”

This history does not repeat itself every year. But if I see a symbol of a bright future this time of year, I am not inclined to bet against it.

Huffman, Ghedini, and Loughnane are all shown as SGs on Verbal Commits. It appears all 3 will have opportunities to play the point (Grant already has shown how proficient he can be).

Toohey led the national tournament in assists and steals. He may not be a PG, but he looks like a playmaker. In the NBA Lebron and Draymond both regularly run the point. In our system everybody moves and everybody passes.

No public ties to us or inside info, but I figured worth mentioning 2021 Sheick Samoura since he is high academic (4.2 GPA and 1450 SAT) and local, and we have open roster spots: https://ncpreps.rivals.com/news/sheick- ... w-his-name

Looks like a similar mold to Watson and Ford (athletic, long, versatile, needs to improve jumper) except more of a PG. Recent decommit from Air Force. Could be an interesting guy to add to the class even if it's for developmental upside, and even if he is a similar mold to our current commits, the strength of all of them is versatility so I don't see that as a problem (except that we definitely need to add some shooting to this class). Might be worth keeping an eye on.

Well, looks like this post has some renewed relevance. Reported Davidson interest in Air Force freshman guard Sheick Samoura, 6’5 SG, The Peddie School (Fayetteville, NC). Listed as a transfer but obviously hasn’t played for AF. Actually twice committed to (and de-committed from) from Air Force.
