This is why I think insta-transfer and NIL are a huge challenge for the Cats. We have (rounded) a 0% chance of getting guys like this. SEC, B10 and ACC schools will be putting on the full court press for very experienced mid-major guys who can shoot that they didn't recruit out of HS because they were not that tall.

The Final Four is littered with guys just like this:

AL: Mark Sears, Aaron Estrada, Latrell Wrightsell
NCSU: DJ Horne, Jayden Taylor, Michael O'Connell (from Stanford, but are they really a major basketball power?)
UConn: Tristen Newton, Cam Spencer
Purdue: Just Lance Jones, but he does play 30 minutes a game

As someone mentioned earlier though, this does mean that those schools will not be focusing nearly as much on high school recruits. Can we pick up some gems there that are getting overlooked?

We might also be able to land some kids who previously would have been walk-ons at Power 6 conferences. If I was such a recruit, my rationale would be that there is a better than even chance that X Team would be filling my position with transfers from the portal, and I might never see significant opportunities to sell myself with positive performances on the court. Of course, I am not a teen recruit, and I also don't underestimate the power of magical thinking among that age group.

It's really encouraging to be a finalist for a recruit this highly sought after, shows we can be a contender for a lot of really good transfers. Lets hope we can close the deal!

What does he gain by attending Davidson for a year? He wouldn't be pursuing a degree if only attending for one year, right?

He's played 3 years of college basketball, so he probably has 2 years of eligibility remaining.

He could earn a Davidson degree if he attended 2 years.

Looks like he’s going to be a graduate student.
He will already have a degree.

But does he have a flickerball title? Doubtful.

Ivies only allow student athletes to play four years. All seniors that wish to play the extra year must transfer.

Anyone hear anything on Huffman playing next year?
