Up next: Ohio
12/30 at 1:30. Neutral site game in Cleveland. Go Cats. We have to play much better than we did tonight. Merry Christmas.

Re: Up next: Ohio
I fear we will shoot poorly in this game. My premonition has to do with traveling to unfamiliar, cavernous arenas, and the early afternoon start time. Throw in the fact that they'll be eating breakfast fare instead of sandwiches, burgers, chicken, or steak, and the universe gets thrown slightly out of kilter.
I worry that I am growing so superstitious in old age that it's interfering with rational thinking. I would feel better if a wizard such as wftc would do a deep dive into the Cats' shooting percentages when playing at NBA arenas to prove my prediction wrong.
As for the breakfast food superstition, I concede that the Orioles' Jim Palmer always ate pancakes on the days of his starts, and things turned out OK for him.

Re: Up next: Ohio
Doesn’t take much premonition; we don’t shoot well generally.

Isn’t it better to load with carbohydrates before games rather than being leaded down with slow-digested meats?raptorcat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 2:08 pmI fear we will shoot poorly in this game. If it’s any consolation Ohio U doesn’t shoot the ball well either, aside from their big scorer Clayton. Clayton shoots ~45% from three but the rest of the team is combined below 30%. Grant will be ready to lock him up, and having his own personal fan section there will sure help.
We’ve logged a couple pretty good wins away from home already this year, so I like our chances despite the cavernous NBA arena. Ohio’s best win is a one pointer over Delaware at home. That’s a team we should beat.

I would have went if this was in Athens, 30 min from my ancestral manse of Parkersburg, WV.
My great-grandfather was voted the greatest athlete in OH history in 1950. He had taken a riverboat from ripely, WV to Athens and lettered in 5 sports before WW1 came acalling
He did not place when they had another vote in 2000. Damn you Mike Schmidt (amongst others)

If anyone disagrees with anything I say, I am quite prepared not only to retract it, but also to deny under oath that I ever said it

85 v 188. 62%. 73-69.
188 puts them not quite as good as Wright State and just barely better than ETSU.

In an game earlier this season Ohio U. beat Defiance (it's somewhere in Ohio) 108-28.
The most (only?) famous Defiance athlete is former Cleveland Browns cornerback Ben Davis. Ben is the brother of radical civil rights activist Angela Davis, so Defiance was the perfect school for him to attend.

Re: Up next: Ohio
We recruited Ohio F AJ Clayton. He is averaging 11.5 ppg and 5.2 rpg.
Warning: His is shooting .512 on three point shots (22-43). Pretty impressive for a guy that's 6-8, 225.

Defiance College is in Defiance the town and Defiance County in northwest Ohio. General "Mad" Anthony Wayne put a fort there during the War of 1812 as an act of defiance.bagelcat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 11:53 pmIn an game earlier this season Ohio U. beat Defiance (it's somewhere in Ohio) 108-28.

Google says 11/16/74. But I’m sure you could’ve told me that if I had just asked
