Nobody out there in black acting like "I'm not letting us lose this game." I'm not sure we have that player this year.
Interesting. I saw five such players.
I'm talking about the Tyler Kalinoski, Peyton Aldridge, Jack Gibbs, JAG, Luka, Foster Loyer, "Just give me the ball" type who can carry the team in crunch time. Grant is the closest thing we have this year, but his lack of a three-point threat makes him a little easier to defend when we absolutely have to have a basket.

I'm proud of Reid for stepping up and keeping us in the lead after shooting so poorly for the first 3/4 of the game. He was also tough on the glass with 3 of our 14 offensive rebounds.

Durkin, incidentally, had 4 steals, including the huge one on that inbounds pass in the last minute. And he had 5 rebounds. I gave him my Colt 45 vote after he hit 8 straight first half points. He reminds me of Peyton more and more each game.
Durkin is that guy.
Grant too.
This is not a good free-throw shooting team*. I still want In -bounds plays run for Durkin when the opponent has to foul.
I harken back to September, the first day of practice, when the team shot foul shots at the end. I didn’t see one miss.
* A certain blissful poster pointed out to me that the team is shooting .725 for the season. So that much I stand corrected on.

Thought you'd like that.

I dont know if anyone has said this yet but this is a game we fight really hard in but lose last year. I really think Coach is doing a bang up job.

Hey, I’m thrilled with the victory. Remember, just a short season ago we were losing these types of games. Also, it’s nice to win games at home, last year we were 7-8. Richmond struggled with now 1-10 Buffalo.

I guess someone has said that, then.

Still, a good point by both of you. It is a much happier occasion to be B&M-ing about a win.

Happy New Year to all!

In watching the replay, I am remembering how I felt when they made two three pointers in the last 20 secs of the first half to go up 10 or 12.
If you told me then we were going to win, I'd have been thrilled. Also, I wouldn't have believed you.

Spadone made a tough take with two seconds left in the first half after the mini-disaster.

We weren't doing much in the second half until three consecutive Huffman plays about 4 minutes in:
1. He goes to basket, scores, gets fouled and makes the FT.
2. We get beat on a pick a roll. Grant comes over and gets the strip on a guy who is looking at a layup.
3. He makes a great pass ahead to Kochera for a layup.

The color guy on ESPN-plus (who was quite good): "You've just seen everything Grant Huffman does for this team."

The three point shot is not part of that package. But Grant is a baller just the same.

More from the replay, in the second segment of the second half (12:00-16:00).

Very good series of plays by Brizzi: strong drive to the basket draws foul, takes a charge, drives and kicks to an open Spadone in the corner who nails the 3, then gets a steal.

Logan with a great offensive rebound in traffic and a block on the other end.

This is in all intents and purposes Brizzi freshman year. I think when he moves to the point next season you will really see him shine.

I have no idea what to expect. Two horrible turnovers in-bounding after opponent's made baskets. 14 missed FTs. Two turnovers for steps on the sidelines. Jekyll-and-Hyde-Bailey. Mediocre opposition. But 10 wins - nothing to complain about there. Tomorrow with Dayton will tell us a lot. Hopefully good news.

"Learning experiences" during wins are a lot better than learning experiences during losses.

More replay watching-

We were down 6 with Wiznitzer on the line shooting two with 4:20 to play. Not likely we were going to win at that point.

On the next possession Reed makes a nice pass to Spadone who makes a three.

Reed takes over aftet that, scoring our next ten points, inc. on a great offensive rebound and conversion where he gets fouled.

We were very lucky that they missed on a open two footer with under a minute left that could have put them up 2.

On another chance to tie Reed comes over and gives good help on a drive.

We miss a few FTS.....
