In Game: vs. Dayton
Re: In Game: vs. Dayton
We’ve given up at least three rebounds off of FTs. That can’t happen.

The inability to get a rebound on a missed free throw is baffling.

This makes sense to me. Our offensive flow has really been stifled. We have actually defended pretty well at times, but we're having to defend multiple attempts, as we're being outrebounded.Dr. Bliss wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 7:59 pmI applaud our effort with some strange lineups on the floor, but we look overmatched. In a game like this, Durkin needs to make shots and he’s had some good looks. It looks like they have Grant scouted pretty well and are taking away the things he likes to do and can do. Strategy: kill the head and the body will die.
I don't think we're rebuilding - the team is competitive this year. . . Just not with Dayton.

Just in on the radio. Will try to catch up on the thread. In the meantime, no Skog and a double digit deficit it appears.
Re: In Game: vs. Dayton
Admitting that the other team is simply better doesn't equate to not supporting our players. We have players who would play for the Flyers. We have none who would start for them.

Durkin might, but he doesn’t start for us.

Ouch. Our guys are done.
Re: In Game: vs. Dayton
This may be a question for insiders or players, but I have always wondered how/why bench players get no run one game, then leapfrog over others to get significant minutes in the next game.
I am certain that match-ups, pace, and a good week in practice has a lot to do with the variance, but are there other factors? Inquiring fans want to understand....

And the Kool Aid thread is about to disappear due to inactivity.
Re: In Game: vs. Dayton
I think tonight it has been mainly based on foul trouble and Matt desperately searching for some matchups he can exploit.MrMac wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 8:46 pmThis may be a question for insiders or players, but I have always wondered how/why bench players get no run one game, then leapfrog over others to get significant minutes in the next game.

Skinny and weak is a bad combination. Our Austrian waited til the summer before his last season to get serious building his body. He went from being completely outmatched against P5 bigs to being more than a big, strong, physical Mich St front line could handle.BaseRich306 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 8:12 pmAnother OREB on a free throw leads to Reed's third foul.
We have a whole lot of skinny and weak on this roster. Here’s hoping something changes eventually.

Re: In Game: vs. Dayton
Makes sense. I came in late, and am 'watching' on the radio, so it is hard to get a feel for the progress (regress?) of the game. Glad Schute, Spadone, and Moss are playing more tonight.
Re: In Game: vs. Dayton
I wonder did Bailey have some weird growth spurt during his prep career, because it seems clear to me he has not been fundamentally coached as a big man, either offensively or defensively.
