Once again I'm just wondering what the long term plan is here in this brave new world of college athletics. I don't envy the position that Matt is in, and I love our guys, but we don't have all the pieces we need to be at the level we want to be at (or the level we've been at pretty recently). The Kool-Aid thread was pretty active over the last few days, but not with recruiting news

Without a talent infusion, it’s hard to see much upside going forward.

Kortright was averaging circa 10.2 ppg before tonight. He was shooting a mediocre percentage.

We can't guard quick people. We can't practice guarding quick people because we don't have any, except maybe Moss.

Other than Durkin, our bench contributed nothing.

We started a 6'9" guy and a 6'11" guy and between them they grabbed 5 rebounds.

Neither Adam nor Spadone has stepped up and had a good game. We need 10 points and more than 5 rebounds from a sub other than Durkin.

Matt has been dealt a tough hand. If Mennenga and Watson hadn’t departed early, they would easily have been our two best players this season.

Pretty sure Bob dealt Matt’s hand.

Waston scored 24 & 15 in Loyola's last two wins against St Louis and Dusquene.

What was done to try and keep Des? Based on what I've heard, the feeling was mutual.

Fuchs went right over Reed for the first offensive rebound of the 2d half as if he was engaged in armed combat with a waif.
perfect description of our two sophomore bigs

Re: starting lineups - I understand the desire for continuity, but we were down 13-4 before our best player stepped on the court and we ended up losing by 5. This has happened multiple times this year and several notable times last year as well.

Time to put the best 5 on the court at the beginning of the game so we aren’t playing catch up the whole way.

I'm afraid the glory days of Davidson basketball are over and will quickly recede into the rear-view mirror of time. I don't see a way for us to stay competitive in this new landscape of college athletics. Everything is stacked against us, and if we get a good player, he'll be raided by some other program that can offer more money. We've seen what is happening to college football, and basketball is close behind. March madness will give way to March sadness.

I don’t know what’s worse, the greedy bastards exploiting/ruining college athletics by injecting a pay-for-play (NIL) scheme, or the power hungry grifters in Washington who appear hell-bent on driving our national deficit “to infinity and beyond.” Either way, in my case, they evoke both sadness and a sincere longing for days gone by.

Our on ball defense is bad. :(
It has cost.us down the stretch. I really think we're a better team than this.
Brizzi and a healthy Grant are pretty good on the ball defenders. Brizzi did not play many minutes and Grant seemed a step slower after his head shot.

Trivia question was who did we beat in the NCAA tournament in 1996. Embarrassing.
I talked my Australian guest into being the contestant. I told him I couldn’t answer the questions either. Usually someone in the crowd will call out the answer, but I didn’t hear it, and apparently neither did he. His aunt said he should have guessed the team we were playing.
