Don’t Call it NIL
Don’t Call it NIL
The narrative that justifies NIL payments to student athletes is that the companies which advertise their products or services with the name, image or likeness of the student should compensate him/her for that business useage. Now that precept is a clear fiction, as what we have is simply boosters paying kids to play for their favored school. I’m not convinced that Camelot should embrace this tortured logic. Make the boosters put our lads on a billboard to take the NIL money.

Re: Don’t Call it NIL
Doesn’t matter. The NIL model will be obsolete once the litigation is settled. The payments will come directly from the schools.

Should that happens, I will be back on the wagon with no more Kool-Aid for me. Sad.

Alumna.
I'd not seen it until now. Good for her.

Dawn Staley called her "a generational talent." She doesn't start for the Gamecocks, but Dawn doesn't hesitate to play her at crunch time. She's going to be a big name in wbb.

She doesn't start because she's a freshman and they like what she brings off the bench.
She has been tied to Curry and Under Armour for a bit (camps, etc.). She will replace Caitlin Clark as the player to watch next year. She's women's basketball version of Magic Johnson.
She's also the first NCAA athlete to sign a deal with Red Bull.
It's exciting to cover her.

I'm excited, and looking forward to watching her display her skills.

You don't have to convince me, Coach; I've been a Gamecock wbb season ticket holder for years. I guess I should have written "She doesn't start for the Gamecocks (yet)."collegecoach8502 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 10:34 pmShe doesn't start because she's a freshman and they like what she brings off the bench.

Let me know where you sit and will try to give a wave or come say hello next time you're at a game. Dr. Beckham and his wife (he's a Davidson grad and classmate of Dave Fagg and they are long-time supporters of USC athletics - Beckham Field at softball) sit mid-court and I always enjoy seeing them as well.WildCock wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 11:53 pmYou don't have to convince me, Coach; I've been a Gamecock wbb season ticket holder for years.
