I, too, have wondered about the motion offense given that we may not have players for an entire four year cycle. It’s difficult to learn, so is it still a legit offense if we start relying more and more on the portal?

Absolutely. Outside shooting acumen is an imperative in that offense. I suspect the coaching staff is aggressively pursuing accomplished three point shooters in the portal.

Alabama's Aaron Estrada is attending his 6th school in 7 years: high school, prep school, St. Peter's, Oregon, Hofstra, Alabama. To his credit, he did spend 2 years at Hofstra and graduated. He wanted do his COVID year as a graduate student at Hofstra, but his coach encouraged him to transfer to a school where he could get more NIL money. It worked out pretty well for him and for Alabama.

If he goes there, I wish him luck. Glad he wasn't playing for them this season. JMU would have had a problem with him.

There may be a market for the guards if they transfer down. Plus with all the portal craziness, someone may want a 1 year or 2 year rental just to have a body for practice and to balance out recruiting classes. If you transfer down low enough, they may just make you a starter and with the pressure off and against less talented competition, it might work.

Cade Tyson, Hunter Tyson's younger brother, is in the portal. We wanted Hunter, but he went to Clemson and is in the NBA, sort of.

Cade went to Belmont. He's done well there.

We have 2 scholarships tied up with Bailey and Logan. Tyson would compliment Durkin.

We need to make Trent Steinour and Colt Langdon our main priorities for '25.

This Cade can shoot. 46.5% on 3’s, 85.5% FT.
