Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
How are we going to sign the next Tom Leifsen if we can't wine and dine him at Big Daddy's?
If he visits campus he'll be ensconced at the guest house.

Depending on how long this lasts, there may be fewer D1 institutions next season. Some schools aren't ready to weather a depression and a drop in enrollment. I'm hoping that next season is a full one and that it starts on time, but I'm not optimistic about that.

I would think the current events would make one want to stay close to home and family.wildforthecats wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 10:46 amI would think, but what do I know, that it would be an advantage with a guy like Chris Ford.
"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''

That is understandable, and may impact us in a big way, since our recruiting spreads a very wide net.DC69Wildcat wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 12:27 amI would think the current events would make one want to stay close to home and family.wildforthecats wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 10:46 amI would think, but what do I know, that it would be an advantage with a guy like Chris Ford.

Probably makes recruiting from overseas a lot more difficult, both in terms of getting to see/meet players and getting them here for visits or possibly to start classes.
Bob in the huddle during timeout: "Don't listen to BDL!"
Matt: "Coach, that's BDF."
Bob: "What?! There's two of them!?"

Taking this a step further, how many guys have transferred out since Bob took over? Isn’t the number one or two?

More than 1 or 2.
Jordan Downing, Joe Aase, and Mason Archie were all in the last 10 years.

Aase was more about being close to home.

And Mason Archie was a walk-on at Davidson, who transferred to IUPUI where he was on scholarship for his final few years. Can't blame him for making that jump.
Youssef Mejri also left Davidson after 2012-13 season, though I think that was not related to basketball.

A non-exhaustive list includes Frank Harris, Ray Minlend, Jason Dickens, Brian Allenspaugh, and Matt Greiser.
James Marsh and Frantisek Babka returned to Europe, so they didn't transfer.
Jeff Severinghaus was told his services were no longer required. Rather than transfer, he remained at Davidson and his family paid his way.
There were several other players who left in the early years, which is not surprising because there were more scholarships in that era, but no more playing time. Everyone thought he could start because we were a bad team that was rebuilding.
