Re: Portal
Up to this point, everything makes sense in today's portal/NIL/Davidson world.
Grant and David - 4 year careers, exploring their fifth year option and since Davidson doesn't provide grad school options it totally makes sense, just like it did for Mike Jones, Kellan Grady, etc.
Jarvis Moss, Achile Spadone, Rikus Shulte and Angelo Brizzi fall into the portal category of those that were not getting a lot of playing time and think playing time/greener pastures are elsewhere. I would argue that if AC and Brizzi stayed, they most likely would have seen that increased time...especially now. When you throw in the idea of more playing time and NIL money elsewhere, then it doesn't take much in today's climate for kids to leave.
Although disappointed in seeing any of them leave, beyond wishful thinking, none of the above surprise me that much. To be honest, we will fill our roster from the portal with the kids that are leaving their current programs for the exact same reasons. The question is, can we overcome our NIL shortcomings to draw these kids or not.

Re: Portal
Brizzi would have been our starting PG next year, so I don't think the issue was playing time.
Re: Portal
Unless he and the Coaches knows something that we don't know...? Of course they do, but does it have anything to do with an incoming point guard with whom none of our current guards want to compete for those minutes. I know nothing at all, just looking to answer the question of Why?

A reasonable assumption given what we know now and have seen.

Re: Portal
They base their decisions on what playing time they have had, not as much on what they might have.

Re: Portal
Emory should be able to go with him. I’d rather have a diploma from Rice than SMU (unless I wanted to be a Methodist pastor).
I had a HS teacher who got her doctorate in history from Rice. Soon after she was NC’s teacher of the year. Soon after that she joined WCU’s faculty.

Re: Portal
That was quick. I know several folks who got graduate degrees at Rice. And a recent DU president had taught and administered there. If Emory plays there, perhaps I can find one of his games; obviously not so easy as it would have been in the ACC.

Keyshawn Hall is in the portal. Can't beat him, but maybe we can buy him.

No, he enjoyed playing against us too much.
Re: Portal
My neighbor asked me what I would do with the payout if I won the current NC lottery, which has surpassed $1 billion. I unhesitatingly said I'd give $25 million to the Davidson collective, so we wouldn't have to worry about all this crap anymore.
