Jon Axel's little brother has entered the portal from Penn State. He has 3 years of eligibility. Don't know if Davidson ever had interest.

Josh Cohen is headed to Arkansas for his third school. Carter Whitt's 3rd school will be Belmont. Didn't we really want Tyler Nickel out of high school? He left the Holes to go to VPI. Now he's leaving the Hokies. He'd like Davidson.

Re: Portal
I don’t want a kid that’s on to his third school in three years.
Re: Portal
Davidson should be prioritizing portal guys with at least two years of eligibility left. We need some continuity, if that’s even possible these days.

Jackson Paveletzke of Iowa State has entered the Portal. He had a great freshman year at Wofford in '22-'23. He transferred to Iowa State, but his playing time dropped. He's back in the Portal. He has 2 or 3 years of eligibility left.
He's a 6'3" guard from Wisconsin. He could be our next Casey Ramm.

Re: Portal
NC State did it thru the portal; so it can be done. Davidson, like other smaller schools, will routinely get poached if they bring in HS players who develop into high major prospects. A sufficiently competitive NIL will be an imperative if we want to retain our best young players. If not, things will become very challenging for the coaching staff. It’s the new norm, like it or not. Adapt quickly, or get left in the dust.

I meant he would be our 2nd player from Wisconsin. He'd be our best player from the Badger State.citycat wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2024 9:24 pmJackson Paveletzke of Iowa State has entered the Portal. Re: Portal
Our best player from the Badger State is Dennis Krioutchenkov on the men's soccer team. Vincent Bennage is second best. Soccer has a solid foot in the door to Wisconsin, and I'm sure Mike Babst would be happy to introduce the basketball coaches around.citycat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 11:41 pmI meant he would be our 2nd player from Wisconsin. Andy Enfield is the new SMU basketball coach. Any opinion about his coaching? I’ve read about his background, including being a shooting coach.Wildcat92 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 5:06 pmLanier is the new coach at Rice. Smart hire.

Don't know about Enfield's coaching, but he has a drop-dead gorgeous wife.

Gorgeous wives follow hedge fund gazillionaires, who have enough money to quit to become basketball coaches. See, e.g. Seth Berger at Westtown Friends School outside of Philly (alma mater of Derrick Lively, Cam Reddick, and many others)
