checklist

Post by rbarney » Fri Feb 12, 2016 9:20 am

If that is more than just a mental checklist, you have to be kidding me! Is every girl (or guy) supposed to carry with him/her a checklist pad to file with the thought police (before or after the event?).

Derek Fisher hits the trifecta. Needs to move his thought locus north.

"and all Galli-Curci can do is sing".

MM15 will correct the spelling and place this in its historical context.

Is it too late for him to sign up for the presidential primaries?

"Although Smith retired in 1997, four years after the paper classes began, rare is the person in North Carolina who thinks he knew about them, or that he would have looked the other way if he had. Smith was widely admired for his integrity..."

I apparently know a disproportionate number of those rare persons.

When Coach Smith passed away last year, ESPN had two of his former players describe him. Brad Daugherty said that Smith made Daugherty bring his check book and other financial records to Chapel Hill every summer so he, Dean, could go over them and offer Brad advice on his financial decisions. The other former Tar Heel, maybe James Worthy, said Smith did the same thing for/to him.

Smith was an outspoken proponent of a freestanding AFAM Department. The Department was not subject to the academic audits nearly every other department at UNC endured because it had no graduate program or courses. Coach Smith, with his mastery of detail and memory, knew that.

In the 1980s, UNC was honoring a player on Dean's first team, '61-'62. An intern was assigned to find some highlights of the player. Dean suggested he find the film of UNC's game against Notre Dame that was played in Greensboro. It was one of Carolina's only two non-conference game that year. UNC cancelled their other non-conference games as penance for some UNC players having been involved in the Dixie Classic betting scandal. UNC was 8-9 that year. (State did the same thing and finished 11-6.)

Dean watched the the film with intern. Several times, Dean would say, "Watch Fred here. He grabs a rebound." He warned the intern about one upcoming highlight and the film played out as the coach said. The intern stopped the film and asked Coach Smith how long it had been since he had seen the film. Smith said he had watched it the day after the game, and never again.

"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''

Moron. I'm glad that he and his smuggled weapon didn't get to the Dominican Republic.

The absolute best part about the suspension of Devin Thomas is the fine print that accompanies the photo at the bottom of the linked page. Somebody left out a "P"--"Wake Forest Demon Deacons forward Devin Thomas (2) shoots on the court before laying the Pittsburgh Panthers at the Petersen Events Center." That's pretty ambitious. Not that there's anything wrong with it.
