Portal
Re: Portal
Grant needs to do what is best for Grant. He should have some good options to choose from in getting on with life and/or education.

Maybe Grant will stick. Send your spare money to the collective and pray.

Re: Portal
Grant will get a graduate degree somewhere, either a PhD or MD. No way could he juggle the first year of medical school with playing college basketball, but he could get a start on an MS or PhD program, and many med schools like to see a bit of grad school on the applications. IIRC, Mike O'Neill didn't get accepted to med school out of DC, so he went to grad school at IU, taught school for a year, then got accepted at Bowman Gray School of Medicine and graduated at the top of his class.
"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''
Re: Portal
If we actually believe our guys are as smart as we say they are, then we should want them to be smart enough to enter the portal and get graduate school paid for. The only reason we want them to return to DC is for our own interests. I assume Kochera has not yet met requirements to graduate, otherwise I would hope he would transfer as well. I am very happy for Grant. As for the other two I could care less about them. The only other transfer (not graduate) I cared about was Frampton , because of the circumstances.DC69Wildcat wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 12:05 pmGrant will get a graduate degree somewhere, either a PhD or MD. Edit. I would love to see Grant, Kochera and Skogman back, but only if they have a passion to play another year at DC.

While I hated to see Michael Jones leave, you can't criticize someone who can get a free graduate degree. Grant is in the same boat. Just wish him well.

Re: Portal
I’m disappointed but not surprised. I think he expected the apparent step down to result in more PT, but for some reason it didn’t.
Re: Portal
I wonder if any of the players that have entered the portal for Davidson were encouraged to do that by the head coach?

Jarvis is an athletic 3-point shooter who couldn't shoot.
Re: Portal
You are touching on something I have been thinking--that the culture between athletes and coaches is becoming much more transactional and mercenary. I know a lot of us are getting more cynical, and it's hard not to believe coaches and players are as well. It's a shame really.

The second player that I believed would transfer was Jarvis. I am not happy about being right.Waitress wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 8:10 pmI expected this. Re: Portal
Isn't the process changing? One "free" transfer, but sit out a year after a second transfer?
